Spindleruv Mlyn

A literature of old days calls Spindleruv Mlyn the gem of Krkonose thanks to excellent location in the middle of highest mountains in the country. Peak of Krkonose named Snezka is also highest in Czech Republic. Mountains offer fantastic conditions for sports and leisure at summer time as well as during winter like hiking and cycling, most of all skiing.

Spindleruv Mlyn is one of most important skiing centres in Czech Republic.

It is located at 715 - 1310 altitude at junction of Labe river and Dolsky stream. Whole town area belongs to Krkonose National Park. There are 4 major suburbs of town: Predni Labska, Labska, Bedrichov and Svaty Petr. Number of permanent residents is cca 1300, during seasons, mainly winter one number goes up to 15000 because of tourists.

At the beginnig mining and wood-cutting region got its name Spindleruv Mlyn at the end of 18th century after local mill of Spindler family built near Labe river. This was an impulse for building expansion at 19th century. Typical wooden mountain houses were recontstructed and improved to much ostentatious hotels and restaurants.
 
Many accommodation and restaurant objects were built between 1st and 2nd world war, further after 1945. At 1911 metal-concrete arch bridge was built and is still dominanting feature of town. At 1802 foundation stone was laid to construct the church of Saint Peter and Pavel.
 

Saint Peter

Valley of Saint Peter is closed off by Lucni Louka from eastside. It is right there, next to best known ski centre, where the APLSKY HOTEL is.

Sports facility Svaty Petr is most important centre of sport activities at Spindleruv Mlyn. There are many significant sport events organized every year.

Within premises there are 3 rope tracks and 5 lifts. Skiing tracks, in regard of length, superelevation and service, are best quality level in the country. Very popular is also snowpark including U-ramp. Thanks to skipasses valid for whole area of Spindleruv Mlyn and skibuses you can visit/access all places including centre Medvedin - second biggest without a hassle.
